Frank Vatrano has to pay up for his actions against Jason Robertson.
On Saturday, the NHL Department of Player Safety fined Vatrano $5,000, the maximum under the CBA, for unsportsmanlike conduct in the third period against the Dallas Stars on Friday.
Down 8-2 with around 15 minutes remaining, Vatrano let his frustrations get the best of him as he was back-checking Robertson. The two forwards exchanged slashes before Vatrano tackled Roberston from behind.
The Ducks forward was given a two-minute minor for unsportsmanlike conduct and a 10-minute misconduct, while the Stars forward was hit with a minor slashing penalty.
The 30-year-old Vatrano has just three goals and two assists this season after potting 22, 37, and 21 goals over the last three seasons.
